1. Overview
Built4Sport ("we," "us") makes the Built4Sport training app for youth and high-school athletes, their coaches and their parents. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in the app, on this website and in related services (together, the "Services").
The short version: we collect what the app needs in order to work — an account, a roster, and the workouts an athlete is assigned and completes. We show an athlete's training to the coach and the parent connected to them, and to nobody else outside the company. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. Athletes under 13 do not get their own account; a parent creates the account and stays in control of it.
This website itself collects nothing. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third parties.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile. For coaches, parents and athletes aged 13 and older: name, email address and a password. For athletes: date of birth (used to confirm age and to keep programming age-appropriate), sport, position and skill level. Optionally, a profile photo and a team logo. Coaches also create team names, and every team has a code used to invite people to join it. Parents may also set a passcode in the app.
Children under 13. A parent creates the account. We collect the child's first and last name and date of birth, and nothing more. We do not collect an email address or a password from a child under 13.
Training activity. Workouts assigned to an athlete, workouts and exercises completed, sets and reps logged, when a session was done, streaks and completion history.
Subscription status. Which plan an account is on, and confirmation that a purchase is valid. Purchases are made through the app store on your device — we never receive your card number or billing address.
Device and app information. App version, device type and operating-system version, IP address, and — if you allow notifications — an identifier that lets a reminder reach your device.
Usage information. Which screens are opened, which controls are tapped, and when the app is opened or closed.
Diagnostic information. Crash and error reports. A sample of app sessions, and sessions in which an error occurs, may also include a recording of the screens shown and where taps landed, so a bug can be reproduced. Text and images in those recordings are masked.
Anything you send us. If you email us for support, we keep the message and our reply.
3. How we use information
- To run the Services: create accounts, build rosters, assign workouts, log training, and calculate streaks and progress.
- To show a coach how the athletes on their team are training, and a parent how their athlete is training.
- To send the reminders and notifications an account has turned on.
- To manage plans, confirm purchases and apply the limits of a plan.
- To keep accounts secure, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To find and fix crashes, and to understand which features are used so we can improve the app.
- To answer support requests and, where you have asked for it or the law allows, to send occasional messages about the product.
We do not use personal information for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not run behavioral advertising of any kind — least of all to minors.
4. How we share information
With coaches and teammates. When an athlete joins a team, that team's coach can see the athlete's profile, the workouts assigned to them, and what they have completed. Teammates on the same team can see each other's first name and standing on team leaderboards and streaks. Joining a team is how the app works, and it is always an explicit action taken with a team's invite code.
With parents. A parent linked to an athlete can see that athlete's workouts and progress. For a child under 13, the parent who created the account manages it outright.
With service providers. A small number of companies under contract help us run, support and improve the Services, and the app store you bought a subscription from handles that payment. A service provider may use the information only to provide its service to us, and not for its own purposes.
For legal reasons. If we are required to by law, or to protect the safety, rights or property of a user, the public or Built4Sport.
In a business transfer. If Built4Sport is sold or merged, information may transfer with it. This policy, or a policy at least as protective, will continue to apply.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Minors and student athletes
Under 13. A child under 13 cannot create a Built4Sport account. A parent or legal guardian creates the account, provides consent for the limited information described above to be collected, and controls it from their own account. For a child account we collect only the child's name, date of birth and training activity. No advertising, and no sharing beyond the service providers described in section 4.
Parent controls. A parent can review and correct a child's information in the app at any time, and can delete a child account — which removes that child's profile and training history — from the parent dashboard. A parent can also contact us to review or delete a child's information, or to withdraw consent, which means the child's account is closed.
Ages 13 to 17. Athletes 13 and older can hold their own account. A parent can link to it and see that athlete's training.
Teams run through a school or club. When a coach invites athletes as part of a school, club or organization program, that coach and their organization are responsible for having whatever parental notice and consent their program requires. We do not receive student education records, and we do not act as a school official or provide the Services to schools as a vendor of student records.
If you believe a child under 13 has an account that no parent set up, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Data retention
We keep account and training information for as long as the account is open, because that history is the product — progress and streaks depend on it. Deleting an account in Settings deletes the profile and training history that belong to it. Deleting a child from a parent account does the same for that child.
For everything else we keep only what the purpose in section 3 still needs, and then delete it. Diagnostic reports and session recordings are kept on a short rolling window and then discarded. Usage records not tied to your name may be kept longer in aggregate form. Records of purchases are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Deleted information can persist briefly in routine backups before it is overwritten.
7. Security
Information is encrypted while it travels between the app and our systems. Access is restricted so that each account reaches only its own data and the data it is entitled to see — a coach reaches their teams, a parent reaches their athletes, and an athlete reaches their own training. Passwords are stored only in a scrambled form that cannot be reversed, so nobody at Built4Sport can read yours.
No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.
8. Your rights and choices
- See and correct your information. Profile details can be viewed and edited in the app.
- Delete your account. Settings → Delete Account permanently removes the account and the data associated with it. Parents delete a child account from the parent dashboard.
- Notifications. Turn reminders off in the app, or notifications off entirely in your device settings.
- Leave a team. An athlete who leaves a team ends that coach's access to their future training.
- Ask us. Use the support contact shown on our App Store listing to request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your information. We answer within the period the law allows, and we may need to confirm you control the account before we act.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — for example under California, other U.S. state, or European and UK privacy law — including the right to know what we hold, to have it corrected or deleted, to a portable copy, and to object to certain uses. We do not sell personal information or use it for behavioral advertising, so there is no opt-out list to join. We will never treat you differently for exercising a privacy right. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. International transfers
Built4Sport is operated from the United States, and information is stored and processed there. If you use the Services from outside the United States, you are sending information to the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially affects how we use information, we will tell you in the app, or by email to the address on the account, before it takes effect.
11. Contact us
Questions about this policy, and requests about your information, reach us through the support contact shown on our App Store listing.
For a request about a child's account, contact us from the email address on the parent account, so we can confirm the request before acting on it.
